I had Randy Cage Dawson and Grandpa out yesterday. Started off as a cool calm morning and we got a little hybrid action, got a good one on a freeline slow trolling and had another one pull a planer board under and it didn’t slip the line so the fish used it to break off. Uugg! Had a couple pulldowns that didn’t hook up. Trolling fairly large Shad about 1/2mph on 1/8oz freelines away from boat just driving around in open water where fish are scattered. Seems like that bite slowed down about 10am decided to do some catfish for a couple hours they was there but the bite was real slow boats passing nonstop keeping things churning probably didn’t help. Sandbass loved the trolling I reckon had about 8 of those and 5 catfish to go with it. And a nice smallmouth. Worked hard as possible fresh bait and everything I know to do. And that’s what we got.
Did a second trip in the afternoon asked Steve if he wanted catfish or hybrid. And we went for catfish I took a little time looking around and settled on a spot with many on sonar. It took about 15 minutes to start bite then we would pick on off about every 5 minutes and kept getting faster till it was good about when sun shifted a little 4pm approx that’s when hybrid struck as well. Boats never stopped raging Basically fishing boat highway one thing for sure everyone had some place to go. Did 17 catfish and a hybrid.

Good day on skiatook with Randy and his family. Thank you for choosing FISH ON guide service. Targeting hybrid striper and blue catfish. Hybrid are difficult and require a lot of patience and time at the moment, we didn’t give it much today. I was hoping to get a few big ones then move on. We seen hybrid surfacing and groups of them on sonar that didn’t want to bite. We caught one reeling in a bait from deeper water. Lot of the hybrids are coming in water up towards the surface on freelines and downlines . Catfish are easy and get busy and stay that way. It’s getting there. Cleaned 36 fish yielded 20lbs of fillets. Fishing at 50 to 56ft. Water temp 66/67 degrees I’m thinking this will turn on at 68/73 but that’s just my theory. Should take just a day or two.

Doing CPR today focusing on hybrid striper at Skiatook lake. It was not a crazy feeding frenzy for me I had to work for them but they would come. Keep fresh baits on and stay after them. Starting to see some groups and pairs of fish. Downlines seemed good as well as free lines. Mostly shallow presentations. 5 to 20ft. We boated a dozen striped fish probably could have got more but choose to spend a lot of time exploring. We boated hybrid at 4 locations. Quite a few real nice ones at that

Here’s a few real nice fish from fish on guide service today. Sometimes I go to the rivers when it’s windy and this was handy using the fuel efficient boat and truck today as well. I could have thrown up some spoonbill today but we opted to not try them. If your interested call me and let’s get on them, Thanks Steve for choosing my service. We had a good afternoon on skiatook today. It was really busy on the water really awesome weather and we picked up a good catfish bite the kept us busy. I was just cruising across the lake and seen some stuff on sonar and we landed on it and it’s big there’s a lot of fish!! We went over to the hybrid hole and got it almost immediately but the fish got away we shifted around with them for a while and then went back to catfish it was much faster. So by my count I cleaned 38 fish. And I feel like we could’ve had a lot more if we hit them harder. We had several of them in the 5 pound range. That’s Skiatook size. I’ll be spending all my time on this lake and I will produce more hotspots as time goes by. I’ve got some days open coming up and people can complain about the hybrid bite but you know it’s only bad until it’s good you’re land on the right spot they gonna eat you alive.
