Spoonbill/Paddlefish

03-23-17: Today was Jim and John's last day of chasing the Olahoma Paddllefish and they did not get diaspointed. We had three decent Spoonbill in the first 30 minutes and then it just got steady.  We never moved form our original location today. After about three hours they decided they had enough and we kept the next couple of Paddlefish. The last one weighed in at 54lbs. 6lbs short of what Jim was wanting but it was close enough. At the end of their three days we had boated 40 nice Spoonbill/Paddlefish. With the biggest being 54lbs and we had a couple of those. All of todays Spoonbill were caught in about 20fow. Spoonbill/Paddlefish

03-22-17: We had anohter reel good day on Fort Gibson fishing for Spoonbill/Paddlefish. It was day two for Jim and John's Spoonbill hunt and the Okie Spoonbill did not disapoint. We still havn't got the 60lber yet that Jim was wanting. We did do quit a bit of looking for them but just didn't find the big girls. Our big fish for the day was a nice 50lber, with some more close behind. We ended the day with 13 nice Spoonbill. We caught all by trolling with dipsy divers in about 20fow. see my Facebook page for details.

Spoonbill/Paddlefish

03-21-17: Fish on: We had the best day of the year so far on Fort Gibson snagging for Spoonbill. Jim came from Califorina and John from Wisconsin for some Okie fishing for three days. Today was about as good as it gets. We had some real good size and we ended the day having boated 17 Spoonbill. Big fish was 52lbs but we had several more in the high 40's. Most were caught trolling but a couple were caught jerking. See my Facebook page for pics.

Spoonbilling/Paddlefish

03-19-17: We had a reel good day on Fort Gibson fishing for Spoonbill/Paddlefish and Sandbass. It was Dustins birthday party and he want to catch both and we were able to manage to do that. We caught the Spoonbill/Paddlefish up to 50lbs. But most were around 35lbs. After a few hours of that we went to Sandbass fishing and manged 53 of those in two hours. All of those were caught on live Shad in 12fow. The Sandbass was a mixture of males and females. See my Facebook page for pics.

03-20-17: Today was a reel good day on Fort Gibson fishing for Spoonbill/Paddlefish and Sandbass. It started off with us catching some decent Spoonbill. Nothing big, the biggest was 38lbs. Then we decided to go try for some Sandbass. That worked out reel good. Shad have been kind of hard to come by this year so I had some minnows. They worked real good. We caught 60 nice Sandbass in just a couple hours. All were in 12fow casting away from boat and slowly reeling back. See my Facebook page for pics.

03-18-17: We had a good day today on Fort Gibson snagging for Spoonbill/Paddlefish. We caught several at our first stop and then decided to make a fnal move. We were glade we did. We caught some more there. We caught all on dipsy divers in about 20 to 25fow. Big Spoonbill/Paddlefish of the day was 48lbs. See my Facebook page for pics and video.

03-17-17: We had a ok day today on Fort Gibson snaggng for Paddlefish/Spoonbill.  We had to do a whole lot  of looking beofore we got any Spoonbill/Paddlefish in the boat. We ended up with some but not as many or as big as we would of liked. Big fish was 37lbs. Most were around that. All were caught on dipsy divers speed trolling. See my Facebook page for pics.

03-16-17: We had a reel good morning today on Fort Gibson snagging for Spoonbill/Paddlefish. Eathan got the trip for graduation from his Grandmaw and got to bring a friend. As things go, the friend caught the big fish. Haydens big fish was 54lbs but Eathan was close behind with a 47lber. We caught them all in about 20fow trolling dipsy divers. We only fished a couple hours til Hayden and Eathen cauaght their big fish that they wanted to keep so we were done. They both caught some more nice ones. See my Facebook page for pics and video.

03-15-17: We had a pretty good day today on Fort Gibson snagging Spoonbill/Paddlefish. We found the Spoonbill/Paddlefish real quick and had 3 in the first hour, then it just slowed down to steady. We ended the morning having caught some reel nice ones. the biggest Spoonbill/Paddlefish for today was 56lbs. We caught all of the Spoonbill/Paddlefish today trolling dipsy divers. 03-14-17  We had a good morning on Fort Gibson snagging for Spoonbill/Paddlefish. Susan caught one in the first ten minutes and decided to keep it. Gary continue on for awhile til he got tired and kept one so we headed in pretty early. Big Spoonbill/Paddlefish for the day was 44lbs. We caught all by trolling dipsey divers. 3-12-17: We had a very slow day on Fort Gibson today fishing for Spoonbill/Paddlefish. We ran around quite a bit and tried different methods of snagging. We did catch some but sure not what we were looking for. Our big Spoonbill/Paddlefish for the day was 44lbs. The fish were real scattered. Not sure if the cold front did it or all of the boat traffic. But other reports were about the same as ours. With a few better and few less. See my Facebook page for pics and video.

03-10-17: We did a combination trip today, part Catfish and part Spoonbill/Paddlefish. We started off jerking for the Spoonbill/Paddlefish without any luck so went went Catfishing. We had alittle better luck and caught a Spoonbill/Paddlefish also. After we caught a mess we decided to try for the Spoonbill/Paddlefish again and went alittle father north. We found them thick there. We ended up catching 8 in the two hours we snagged. All were males. The biggest was about 40lbs. We caught these pulling Dipsy Divers in about 20fow. 03-05-17: Fish On: Chris and Amy came from Beaver Oklahoma to enjoy some Oklahoma Paddlefish snagging. It took a little bit to get our first one in the boat but then it just got steady. We caught the majority of the Spoonbill/Paddlefish by trolling with Dipsy Divers. Chris decided he wanted to get a work out so we started slow trolling and jerking. We caught a couple doing that. The Spoonbill/Paddlefish were pretty scattered but had moved some also from the previous day. Big Spoonbill/Paddlefish was about 40lbs. All were in that same range and in about 30fow. 03-04-17: We had a Ok day today on Fort Gibson. It started out very slow with us trolling and jerking. The Spoonbill/Paddlefish were real scattered so I switched tactics so we could cover more ground by power trolling with Dipsy Divers. That seemd to be the tickett. We ended up with about half of what we caught yestrday but it was still a ok day. Big Spoonbill/Paddlefish was 44lbs. Most were caught in 25 to 30fow. See my Facebook page for pics and video.

03-03-17: FISH ON: We had a reel good day today on Fort Gibson. It started out a little slow then I turned on the side scan and found some hidding over on the side. We caught some of the biggest ones of the year so far. Big spoonbill/Paddlefish was 57lbs with a few more close behind. We ended the day having boated 12 spoonbill/Padlefish. Some were females. 03-02-17: Fish ON. Paul wanted to try a different lake today for snagging so we went to Oologha. We ended  up doing ok but the Spoonbill/Paddlefish were real scattered. Big Spoonbill/Paddlefish was about 30lbs. All seemed to be on the small side. We were trolling and jerking at about 2.5mph. We were in about 30fow. See my Facebook page for pics and video.

02-16-17: FISH ON: We had a pretty good outing with a great family Spoonbilling. It took just a litttle bit to figure out the Spoonbill/Paddlefish but once we did it was FISH ON. Thye were a little bit scattered but overall it was a good day. Big Spoonbill/Paddlefish was 44lbs. Most were 30 to 40lbs. All were caught while trolling and jerking. We tried power trolling but just couldn't get them to hook up. With the Spoonbill/Paddlefish being scattered the jerking worked a lot better. Water temp. is 50degs. Lake Eufaula

02-15-17: I didn't quite get enough Blues yestrday for my up coming fish fry so I had to go again. :). So Rick and I went to Lake Eufaula in search of some Blues. We caught about twice as many as we did on Keystone, so the bad news is now I have enough fish for the fish fry. We found a good mess of Blues on Eufaula. Nothing real big just good cleaners. all were caught on fresh cut shad cast away from the boat. We were in about 25fow. Water temp. is 49degs. See my Facebook page for pics.

Keystone lake

02-14-17: I needed some fish for a up coming fish fry so Rick and went to Keystone Lake looking for some Blues. We found some nice Blues but not quite as many as we would of like to of found. The ones we found were in 10fow. All were caught on cut bait cast away from boat. Big Blue was about 13lbs. See my Facebook page for pics.

Spoonbilling/Paddlefish

02-11-17: FISH ON:  Ron and Penny came from Nebraska to enjoy some good Oklahoma fishing. They came for some Catfish and some Spoonbill fishing. We started looking for the Catfish at first and found some active feeders. It never did get fast just kinda steady. We ended the morning with 15 Catfish and went looking for some Spoonbill/Paddlefish. We found those reel quick. We caught four in about 30 minutes and two of those were a double(see video). The Spoonbill/Paddlefish all weighed around 40lbs. we caught the Spoonbill/Paddlefish by trolling and jerking. Water temp. is 50degs. All of the Catfish were caught on cut bait in about 20fow cast away from boat. See my Facebook page for pics and video.
