Fishing Reports

November

Skiatook Lake Oklahoma - Nov 19, 07

Not very fast but steady for the first couple of hours. It was pretty good action for the first couple of hours and thenjim.jpg it slowed way down. We ended up with our limit but not by much. Most of the Hybrids were small with the biggest being about three lbs. We found them in about 25 ft of water. The water temp is 61degs. They came on downlines and freelines with the size of the shad being small. It was a beautifful day to be on the water with a couple of guys who really enjoyed being out and just visiting with each other.  Sometimes its more than just catchinmg fish that makes it a good trip.

Ouachita - Nov 17, 07

Not again, but it did. I fished with my son and brother for two days thinking it had to get better than the weekend before. It was better but only by a 12inch Striper. We fished for two days and only caught one very small Striper. This time I tried every possible thing I could think of. From downrigging to cut bait to chumming. We had the same results. There was four boats from Tulsa fishing Saturday morning and only one fish was caught. The water temp is still 62 deg.

Ouachita RAFFLE - Nov 11, 07

I took Steve Gifford and friends to Ouachita this weekend for winning the raffle. It was a pretty nice weekend to be ou,t just no fish. We got skunked. There was tons of bait and fish in the Tompkins Bend area. There just wasn't any active feeders. I have been going there for 15 years and that has never happen before. Saturday we had a E wind about 10 to 15 mph with a small cold front. This morning I had run out of excuses. No wind and calm. Nice day to be fishing.

Skiatook Lake Oklahoma - Nov 03, 07

FISH ON!!!! Started out very fast slowed down and then ended with a flury. Fished with some anglers fromPhoto_110307_002.jpg Wichita that wanted to learn the lake. We did get to see some of it but it was hard to leave fish biting. We started around noon and quite about 6:30. When we quite we had caught around 35 fish with about 25 of them being nice Hybrids(and one green perch that weighed 5lbs).Most of the Hybrids weighed between 2 to 5lbs. We kinda lost count because we started throwing back the smaller ones and we got close to our limit fairly quick. A lot of them were caught on freelines with split shot and some on downlines and some on slabs. Most were in 25 to 35ft and the water temp. was 64deg. We didn't see hardly any surface action but at the boat ramp when we were getting out I got two reports from other anglers that they saw surfacing fish. One guy said the surfacing fish were Sandbass and the other said Hybrids. The one that said Hybrids was a bassholer so I"m not sure how much he knows about Hybrids.
