Sooner and Skiatook Lakes Oklahoma - Jul 31, 07

Pretty good day. My favorite fishing partner(my son) and I went fishing today. We went to Sooner first and fished7-31-07.jpg for about 3 hours and caught ten fish or so. 5lbs. was the biggest. Marked lots of fish and felt pretty good about the outing. The fished seemed to be active and willing to eat when you found them. The water temp. there was 86deg and we were catchiong the fish in about 30 to 40 ft of water.  We left there and went to Skiatook seeing how it was on the way home and did very good. We caught about 30 fish in 1  to 2 hours. They were very active and willing to eat. Most of them were 2 to 3 lbs with a few 4's and 5's mixed in. We were in 40 ft of water and the water temp. was 88 deg. It appears the lake is still going down.

Very Slow.   Fished hard for 3 hours and only caught a couple of fish. They had moved from where they had 7-29-07.jpgbeen on Friday, and the ones we caught were on free lines. Looked in several places and never found any active feeders. The boat traffic was not bad for a weekend. The water is going down some, it appears at least a couple of feet. The water temp. is 91 deg.

FISH ON!!! Caught about 30 fish in 3 hours.  It was almost constant action from the time we started. All but a3.1.jpg couple of the Hybrids were caught on downlines in about 45 to 50 ft. of water. We never did go look anywhere else. There did not seem to be a thermocline. The baits  were living fairly good at that depth. They were not real big fish most were three to four lbs. The biggest was 5.8 lbs.  After the last few outings there, I was ready to take anything. Plus it was a real pleasure to be in the boat with people who were just enjoying being out.

A little slow. We ended up with 16 fish but some of them were catfish. Our biggest fish was a 7 lb Hybrid.3.2.jpg Tried several different spots and marked a lot of fish they just were not in the mood to eat. All but a couple were caight on free lines in about 15ft of water. Water temp. was 85 deg.

FISH ON!!!! Caught 40 to 50 fish today with good friend Steve Carroll. We caught several 7 to 8 lb fish, with the2.jpg big fish being 9.13. We had a couple more on that may of been bigger but we never got to see them. We ended up running out of bait. There was not much boat trffic for a weekend, which really surprised us. Most fish were caught on free lines  and some on downlines. We started out in 17ft of water and caught fish. When that slowed down we moved to 20 feet of water and found them again.  We caught several of the fish  by just slowly reeling the baits in and let the fish hit it.The water temp. was 84deg.

A little bitter. We changed lakes and finally found some active feeders. We caught 15 fish with the biggest2.4.jpg Hybrid being 7.6lbs. The bite was a little slow but kinda constant. There was not much boat raffic and it was a pleasure being with a father and son who just enjoyed being out and catching a few fish. Most of the fish caught were on free lines with a few on downlines. Most came in 10 to 15ft of water.

Skiatook Lake Oklahoma - Jul 15, 07

Another very tuff day of fishing. Fished hard for at least six hours and only caught 5 fish. The biggest Hybrid wasdownload.jpg about 5lbs. The fish we caught wee all on free lines in about 4o ft. of water. Ran all over the lake and only found one good concentration of fish and they would not bite. Tried downrigging and did not produce anything. There was plenty of boat traffic keeping the lake rocking and rolling. The water temp. is up to about 88deg. and rising.

Skiatook Lake Oklahoma - Jul 14, 07

Very tuff fishing. Fished Thursday morning and got ran off by the stroms. We had caught three fish in about a hour of fishing, and then the storms came in and the customers called it quits. The 14th I had a three hour trip and a six hour trip and we caught a total of 4 fish between both trips. I started downrigging and that is how we caught three of the 4 fish. The thermocline is really rising on the lake. Its very difficult to keep the bait alive once it gets in the lake. Anything below 15 to 20 ft and the bait is dead is a matter of a few minutes. The water has came up about a foot since last weekend. The water temp. is about 84deg. But that depends on what part of the lake you are on. No pics because no decent fish to show.

Could of been a little better but it could of been a lot worse. It started out very slow and we had only caught 3 fish in the first 3 hours. I kept moving around till we finally found some active feeders. By the time we quite we had 19 decent Hybrids in the boat and we missed several more. We were just about ready to put the downriggers out and start trolling when we found the big school. They were in about 40ft of water and really on the move. We did pull anchor and slow troll till we found them again and put out the anchor and pretty much stayed on them then, till about quitting time. They seemed to really want just a plane free line with no weight. We did catch a few on downlines, but most came on the freelines. The water temp. was 84 deg. And it appears the lake has stablized for now at about 6ft above normal.
