Fishing Reports
June
Spent a week in Colorado Springs. I didn't get to do any fishing but I did see some people carrying around some bait
fish that kinda had a rainbow color to them. There is some beautiful scenery there. Got to enjoy PIkes Peak and several other attractions. The weather was great. I took my fishing pole I just didn't get to use it.
FISH ON!!! Boy what a morning. A very good friend of mine and I were both on vacation so we decided to put the
rest of Steve Carrolls baits to good use. It was pretty much a repeat of the afternoon before, only this time we ran out of bait. But not before my friend caught the biggest Hybrid he has ever caught. It weighed in at 10.4lbs. Except for that one and a few more 5lbers the fish seemed to run smaller than the day before. We ended up with 20 very nice Hybrids. We kept our limit for a fish fry I am having on the fourth of July out in Colorado. Again they were in 35 to 40ft and we caught them on downlines and freelines.
FISH ON!!
Yee Haaa FISH ON!!!!!! I got a phone call about 1:30 from a very good repeat client and he said he would like to gO
fishing that aftenoon. I wasn't quite ready to go on that quick of notice and didn't quite have enough baits. However I made a call and Steve Carroll came up with some extra baits, and boy was they put to good use. We went for a little less than 3 hours of fishing and caught about 25 very nice Hybrids. We had a pair of 7lbers and several good solid 5lbers. They were in about 35 ft of water and they were hitting very aggressiivly. We caught them on downlines and free lines. The lake is rising and the water temp. is still 78deg.
FISH ON!!!!
F ISH ON!!! What a difference a day makes. We pretty much stayed on fish all morning. We caught several nice
Hybrids with the biggest being around six lbs. Most were between 3 to 5lbs and lots of energy. We ended up with somewhere between 25 to 30 fish. We kinda lost count once we got all that we wanted for a fish fry. They were hitting the baits more aggresive than they had been. We didn't miss very many fish, most that hit got put in the boat. We caught them on freelines and downlines in 30 to 35 ft of water and the water temp. is 78deg. It was great to be in the boat with a dad and his kids and all having a great time, including myself. The kids did a great job of boating the fish. And I want to thank Commander Gene O'fallon of the US Navy for his service to our country(or Dad to the kids).
Fish On!!!
Not bad. It seemed alittle slow but at the end of the dasy we had 15 decent Hybrids. They are keeping the same
pattern. We would catch a couple and then they would be gone. It was a beautiful day to be out, and especially with some guys who knew how to fish and just enjoyed being around each other. We didn't miss very many fish at all. Just about everything that bit got put in the boat. Most of the time we were in 30 to 35ft of water all were caught on downlines and the water temp was 78deg.
Fish On!
TUFF, TUFF, TUFF, day. It was the worst day of fishing on Sooner Lake in three years. We only caught a couple of Hybrids. We finally were willing just to catch some gar, and we couldn't even get them to bite. I don't know what was up but the fish were not biting. We only found one real good group of fish but we couldn't get them to bite. I had forgot to put my dwonriggers back on. That is the only thing I think I could of tried and didn't. They will be on by the next time I go back to Sooner.
TUFF fishing.
FISH ON!! Caught a lot of fish today. We lost count after mid morning. I think it was somewhere around 30. It
was a beautiful morning and the fish were biting. The fish were caught on downlines and freelines. Most were caught in 37ft of water. Most fish were in the 3 to 5lb. range with a 6's. Once they stopped biting we moved to another location and found some active feeders again and finished off the day in about 30ft of water . It was a really good trip, it was a Fathers day present and I am glad I was a part of it.
FISH ON!!
FISH ON!!! What a day. The weather cleared up and it was beautiful. Had great company in the boat and the fish
were biting. We caught some of the biggest Hybrids of the year so far. We caught a 10lb and several 8's. We lost count of how many fish we caught but it was somewhere around 30. It took awhile to find the fish but after a couple of stops and some looking we found them in 37ft of water. They were really active. They didn't move on us they way they had been. Once we found them it was pretty much FISH On the rest of the afternoon. Grandpaw had his son and grandsons in town and treated them to a fishing trip. Everyone had a good time, including myself.
FISH ON!!!
Slow start. We ended up with 15 fish, but we missed at least that many more. We would have them on for a while
and then they would just come off. We tried a different style of hook and it didn't seem to make any difference. The biggest was about 6lbs, with most being around 3 to 4 lbs. We didn't end up with any great number but we seemed to stay pretty busy most of the morning once we found them. All were caught on downlines in 25 to 35ft of water. The water temp. was 78deg.
A slow start. It was a two boat trip and we both had trouble finding the fish. It started out very slow and ended up pretty good. We ended up with 15 fish with 12 of them being
decent Hybrids. We looked around alot and couldn't find a good group of fish till mid day. Once we found them they were mixed in with a bunch of gar. A 20lb gar is a pretty good fight. 5lbs was about the bigest Hybrid and 20lb was the the biggesat Gar. The hybrids were doing a little surface action anlong with the gar. They were in 20 to 30ft and all were caught on downlines. The water temp. was 76deg.
We had 7 boats out looking for Hybrids on Saturday. Some caught more
than others. My boat was
one of the others. For some reason I just
couldn't find a good group of fish. They were really on the move again.
At one point we had 4 on at once, but only got a couple of them in. I
think the most I heard of being caught were in the 30's.(the biggest was a 9
1/2 out of Dewight's boat) My boat had about half of that. Thanks to
Steve Carroll, Shawn Watkins, John Harless, Mike Kelly, Dewight Whitney
and Tony Hughes. We were able to take some people fishing who don't
normaly get out.
